Hi. I was considering downloading and installing the demo version of ASP6 in order to "play around" with the new features and see how it works for me. I'd like to know beforehand .......does ASP6 install as a seperate application from ASP5.6 or does it "write over" the 5.6 version? I seem to remember reading somewhere that someone said it "wrote over" their 5.6 version. If possible........I'd like to keep the 2 versions seperate so that I can "play around" with 6 but switch back to 5.6 for doing projects untill I'm sure version 6 is "stable" enough. Is it possible to keep them seperate and how would I do this? Thanks.

I was able to install the demo version of ASP6 alongside ASP5.6 (on WinXP) without any problems. As a precaution, I renamed my existing "Anime Studio Pro" directory to "Anime Studio Pro 5.6", but that may not have been necessary.

You can definitely install them separately, but the default install of 6 will overwrite your old version of Anime Studio, so be careful.

What happens is this -- as it works through it's install the directories it asks to create are just "Anime Studio Pro" (well, I'm talking about the only version I own) instead of "Anime Studio Pro 6". This is the same directory as your old version, so you just need to not accept the defaults (I just added "6" to the end) OR you can rename your original as the previous poster mentioned. Either one will keep the new program from overwriting the old.

I encountered this problem during testing and we seemed to have worked it out. I uninstalled AS 5.6 and 6 several times and in each case it created an "Anime Studio Pro 6" directory for 6 and DID NOT overwrite 5.6 at all. In fact it never touched the 5.6 folder. It was in a new directory.

Maybe they changed this for "update" version or the Demo is different.
