Interaction between 2 characters

Hello All! Sorry if it is very simple question. But I can't find any answer using search.

I have 2 characters. They are interacting. Let say character B should apper between the arms of character A: one arm of char A should be behind and another arm should cover character B. Like if character A is hugging B.

Thanks!

P.S.: Just found one post about hugging characters. I know that I can split the character A limbs on diferent layers and then reorder them. But all layers of single character should be in the character bones group. So I have 2 bone groups - 2 characters. How can I put character B somewhere between the character A layers.

You just drop that other character right into the middle of the first character's bone group.

They can nest properly - about the only thing you need to do is make sure that second character is away from any bones in the first (on frame 0). I generally put a controller bone for that second character, so I can reposition them as needed.

If you're having trouble with this let me know and I'll see if I can post a video tutorial on it (because I have to do this all the time).

If there is not much interaction, I recommend you to animate normally and when you have everything ok, duplicate the bottom character (bottom on the layer window) and let visible just the parts you want to be on the other character.
Another technique is to have both character on the same bone layer, then play with the layer order as normal. In version 6 you can copy the bones of a character and paste on the other. You can do that and then just move the layers inside the hybrid rig.

Thanks a lot for quick reply! I will try that. For some reason I thought that I can't put bone group of one character inside the bone group of another char... Now it seems so obvious.
