export layers to photoshop/pngs

Just thought of a feature that would be nice to have in AS - an 'export layers' to photoshop option.
Or even export layers to pngs.
I often do drawings in Anime Studio now as Im more used to that than Illustrator. Would be nice to export as seperate elements (quickly and easily) to work up in Photoshop.
I know theres a little script that lets you export from PhotoShop into AS with layers intact, but one that does the opposite would be great too.
Thanks for reading!

I think a script could render all root layers and save them as png. I never thought on that, but sounds cool.
Can a script call the render and save new files? I don't know really. But could bet it does.

Thats great that you can export layers to psd.
All these years I just never realised that the layers can't be grouped or in a bone folder! - otherwise it just exports a psd with all the elements in the one layer.
I always automatically shove my layers in a bone folder for organization-never thought to check by taken them out... doh!

Hi Ink, there is an alternative, manual export method, which doesn't require changing the layer hierarchy, and which will let you decide which layers get combined into PNGs:
Use the layer visibility channel in the timeline to toggle which layers are displayed on successive frames. Like, frame 1 just shows the background layers, frame 2 any characters, frame 3 any shadows or lighting... Export this animation sequence to an alpha'ed QuickTime movie, then externally convert each of those movie frames to separate PNG files.
You'll have much the same end result, but doing it this way will preserve any AS layer settings such as masks, blending mode, opacity, blurs etc. This has the added bonus of working nicely on AS Standard, too.
Cheers, Nick.

Hi Nick,
thanks for reply. Thats a good idea and I suppose you could do the same but render as png sequence.
I generally sometimes work up a character by adding effects in PS so thats where exporting psd and retaining the layers comes in useful.
Still a bit of pain to toggle visibilty on all layers though - thats where Selgins idea for putting the visiblity check box at the top would come in useful
