You're right! Every time I log-in, I see almost five posts of spam...
There are a method to avoid it?

I do this:
1) Always click on "View posts since last visit" on the top right of the board.
2) Do not open (neither for curiosity) the spam posts.
3) Click only on the trusted posters or the new posts from new users asking meaningfull things.
4) If a post is meaningfull (not spam) it would float on the forum after a few days. Then take care of it.
It seems that our moderators have a time window not covered properly (when it is night in US) and the spammers take adventage of that to be visible on te board.
It is curious how the spam themes has turned from viagra, passing from selling watches and shoes and now video converters...

If this forum was updated, it might help on the spam. As it does get annoying seeing this forum cluttered with utter spam junk.

It's a pity that no reliable automatic system seems to exist to block spam like this. If I was a moderator I would resent having to spend my time negatively, blocking junk and deleting moronic posts.

Is there a way that a script could be added to the forum where the readers could declare a post as spam and move it to the spam bucket forum? Say after only 5 clicks of a check box "Die you rotten spammer"

phpBB updates would help some as in every release they make their forum more secure. And anyone familiar with phpBB can tell this forum hasn't been updated in a while. Not only that but it would be nice to have those secure image boxes that you have to type in the letters or numbers before posting. That would stopp a lot of the spam as most is automated.

Some of us are here and killing around 10-15 spammers per visit. I think we are down to just 2-3 daily mods at present.
The only solution is to ban the IPs but only Mike can do this - he has been sent a list of IPs to block (all from China) but I am not seeing any improvement: I'll have to go check if the Chinese span is still coming from the same machines.
If you are sick of the spam, talk it from me I am pretty P*ssed ff with spending n hour or so a day cleaning the site and not getting to read the regular stuff or do the work I am supposed to be doing.
If Mike is not implementing IP bans then I guess I'm going to walk ... O have better things to do then kill off the same daily crap for weeks on end.

Absolutely. You shouldn't have to. This forum needs some tender loving care...
