animation program

Hello~

This week I finished drawing my first trick film!

Still the animation is not done yet and I'm unsure which program I should use.
It will be a very simple, rough animation, about 3 pictures per sec. So I probably won't need a professional program.

I want to arrange the picture on the time axis - but using WindowsMovieMaker I cannot do this seamlessly (I think so...) -
and I'd like to fade the consecutive images into each other - and I could not find this in WMM.

Can someone tell me a better program, please?
(I want to continue making animated trick films, maybe I'll do more pictures per second... - so later I'll need a better program anyhow...)
I did not succeed in getting an overview over all those programs I'm afraid.

Thanks and Merry Christmas :D

Many video editors allow you to import a sequence of images the same way as to import a piece of video. Initially there's one frame after another. Now use some time stretching special effect to get the crossfade effect. (Duplicate your video track first, maybe you want to put in some holds.)
