How do I get the codec?

Ive been using Anime Studio 5 Pro for about 2 years now, and I know Ive always used for compression the Sorenson Video 3 codec for better exports.

However, a few days ago I wanted to export the video with MPEG 4 compression, just so I could have an mp4 file, just for one time only.

Now when I go to the compressions drop down list, I have no option of Sorenson video 3 anymore, which I used to export Quicktime files.

Ive tried to see If I could download it somewhere, but to no avail.

Is there anyway I can get that option back?

-thanks

Well, “Sorenson 3” is a bit of an ancient codec...
(I guess it was superceded by Sorenson Video 3)

Exporting for Cell-Phone or Web you might either stick with MPEG-4...
Or use H.264...
(but, to make it work, in the Compression Settings uncheck “Key frame every frame”...
That will do the trick... :-)

I tried that out, yet the video was
at a larger file size than what it couldve been.

Can the codec be found and downloaded or something?

Two possibilities here: One is to output uncompressed then use an external program to crunch the file down.

Two, check the audio. Lots of small audio chunks are better than one continuous mixed down track. This is especially valid if you are using loops for ambient etc. Made this mistake before :-)

megaboy3,

Not sure about a pc, but if you're on a Mac, open System Preferences and click on Quicktime. In the QT panel click the "Advanced" button and enable "Show legacy encoders."

Next time you export a QT movie you should see Sorenson Video 3 and other legacy codecs. In other words, you still have it but QT is not displaying it unless you ask it to do so.
