I always try my backgrounds do not look too plane.
I use a lot the AS brush tool.

When making my backgrounds i always try to do my best on these subjects:

1.Design

2.Color

3.Camera angle

4.Depth

Have you gone to art school. I bet you can draw anything you should get job as an actual animator.
