Hello all,

I'm new to the forum but not to the program, and I'm sorry for posting this question but my research on the forum did not help me understand what's wrong.

So we have waveforms which can import to cool edit or soundbooth without problem, but can't be imported in anime studio 6.1. These are .wav 48 Khz, the same format we used without problem on two previous animations.

Further research indicates that any treatment in audio software, even from the files which didn't cause problem, causes incapacities to import them into Anime studio 6.1.

And that's a pity because we have to cut the studio voice recording asap.

We tried mp3/wav 44k/aiff converting, nothing works at the moment, and our deadline is melting.

Does anyone have an idea of why this sound can't be imported ? Do we have to use another sound editing software ? Is this possible our cool edit or soundbooth editing is adding insuported features or traces of treatment ?

I just tested sound import in AS 6.1 on Mac. I used these different files:
- 44.1 Hz 16bit WAV
- 44.1 Hz 16bit AIFF
- 48 Hz 16bit WAV
- 48 Hz 16bit AIFF
- 96 Hz 16bit AIFF
and all worked fine in AS - got imported and played with the correct speed.

Then I created a soundfile in 24bit. It was imported to AS and played - but slower than expected. The same happens when I play this file in Quicktime.

So there's nothing wrong with your file format and sampling frequency. Check the bitrate, just to make sure: it should be 16bit because that's what your soundcard assumes as standard.

If it's 16bit already, the culprit must be somewhere else. Try with sound files created on another machine, or from the web: if they work, then it's the sound software you use. Download Audacity and export some testfile from that: this should ork in any case.

If even those don't play, check your soundcard. Of course you tried to play sounds in other software than AS on the same machine? Install AS on a different machine and try again.

I could prepare you a .zip file with my test sounds if that's of any help for you.

You could try this. Download Audacity (it's a free sound editing program). Load one of your wav files into Audacity, then save it. I haven't had too many problems using Audacity with ASP -- maybe this will be successful?...Bonne chance!

I guess it is a a sound program problem, I will try with Audacity right now...

Anyway, that's strange because It all worked fine for three weeks until this particular project, and we used the same audio format.

It seems Audacity repaired my master mixdown, but the problem was elsewhere.

It appears the network path was too long or badly named and prevented anime studio to access the audio files !

I then moved the audio folder to a location closer from the root and everything works fine, even my old audio files which weren't corrupted at all !

For curiosity, what is the maximum number of letters or subpath manageable by anime studio ?

Anyway, now, time to setup the scenes !

Okay, problem definitely solved,

the folder was called "MrX n'arrive pas à dormir",
the ' and à are definitely not a good idea as the path
name becomes very fuzzy for anime studio.

It is renamed and works perfectly !
