Is it possible to change layer visibility with actions? I see that visibility is in the actions timeline and I can put changes into the timeline, but this does not result in any change in the animation in either the action animation or main timeline animation.

This is working for me...I can make the layer fade in and out with an action.

Have you checked the "Allow Animated Layer Effects" checkbox for the layer?

Strange. I don't seem to have that as an option. I wonder if that is new with version 6.

Oh! I see my problem. My action was applied at a group level and the visibility I was trying to control was in a sublayer. Thanks for your reply, Muffy! It helped to know that this was even possible.

Hmm... if I can only control layer visibility by performing actions at the layer level, I don't see any advantage over just changing the visibility manually...?

or maybe it doesn't work on any layer inside a folder?

[edit] scratch that. It does work. It just doesn't show in the animation when that layer is selected...
