Changing Default Bone Position of a Character

This question is about changing the default position of bones on a character.

I draw a character, add bones, move the limbs and whatnot around and everything looks fabulous. Perfect. When I drew the character, the arms were out horizontally and the legs were spread too. Each time I use the character it takes time getting the limbs aligned in a natural looking way. This of course isn't a big problem, but after a while it becomes a substantial annoyance.

I am now drawing characters in more natural looking poses to prevent this. Is there a way to fix my old characters? I would like them to be in a natural pose right away when I import them into my scenes.

Thank you for any advice you may have! I've searched these forums and flipped through the product documentation but haven't found anything that exactly answers my question.

Regards

If you have ASPro, you can create actions of different poses. Then you can import your character and reference one of your actions in frame one. :D

Thanks for the super fast reply! I will search for "Actions" to see what I can come up with. I've never done that before.

Edit: I'm throwing these "Actions" tutorials in this thread so I can find them more easily if I ever search for how to do this again. ;)

I may not be understanding your process correctly, but it sounds like you could use the Bone Offset tool to position your character in a realistic pose after rigging it.

You can use the Bone Offset tool at frame zero after adding bones and adjusting Bone Strength to rearrange the parts of a character.

I hope this is helpful.

That sounds a lot easier than setting up actions.

I can use "Rotate Bone (R)" to angle the arm down so it isn't sticking out. Then when I click "Offset Bone" to fix the shoulder joint position, the rotation resets and the arm is sticking straight out again. :'(
