I make mine in AnimeStudio and export as images. I then make it a gif in Gimp. But you can use any gif editor. ;)

How do you stay under the 6kb max file size?

Personally, I upload the image to Imageshack.us and then link my avatar to it instead of uploading directly to lostmarble.

Here's how I do it, step by step...

For a clean gif edge to be used on the forum, double click your group layer. Go to Shadows and check "Shadows on". Offset to 0, Blur to 0, Expansion to 2. Set the color to RGB 230, 233, 235 and Alpha to 255. (this is if you have no background for your animation, such as a walking character)

Make sure your animation loops. (last frame will blend with first frame)

Export from AnimeStudio at 256x256, 12fps or 15fps as png images. (if you animation is 24fps or 30fps, just make sure to render at half the frame rate at export) (hopefully you don't have more then 20 exported images as it can make a gif larger then needed)

Open Gimp and choose to open as layers. (make sure to select all images by holding SHIFT)

Go to "Filters, Blur, and select Guassian Blur". Set the "Horizontal" and "Vertical" to 1.0 (this will give better AA when were done)

Go to "Image, and select Scale Image" to 100x100, "Interpolation: Linear". (or some where in that range, just don't make it too large in size)

Go to "Image, Mode, Indexed and select Convert". (you could also create your own palette if you want but that's slightly advanced and another topic) (use color dithering if needed)

"File, Save As", whatever.gif

Check "Save as Animation", then "Export"

Uncheck "Gif comment".

Set the milliseconds to 83 if you exported at 12fps, 66 if exported at 15fps.

Set the "Frame disposal" to "replace".

Check, "Use delay entered above for all frames".

"Save"

Thanks and no, just an elf with a red cape. I'm going to use him in a adventure game I'm working on. Still lots more work to do. :D

Thanks for the tips all.

But i've just found out I can't export as PNG in Deput so i saved as AVI and imported to power point and saved as PNG but it only exports the 1st frame but power point does ask me if i want to save all or just one image and i pick all but still only 1 image gets exported.

Looks like i'm finding out more and more that I really need to upgrade to Pro.

I just sent the gif file to you. But I'll try to fix the words since they are hard to read now after resizing.
