This explained in the tutorials. They are listed in "Help | Help...".
What does this mean?:

And what does this mean?:

Anyway, if you right-click on the Switch Layer, you will get a list of the different layers it contains. Click on one to select it.

sorry for may bad english.. i mean: into anime studio there are some character.. like the girl at the start.. if i want move her hand open to closed, there are 2 different layer in the switch layer.. changing layer change all the frame... then if i want an hand open at frame 0 to frame 71 and closed it at frame 72 i can't do it.. because my hand become closed also in the previuos layer... I do not know if I can make myself understood.. i tried this in the tutorial or in the manual, but I found nothing ..

The program cannot read your mind. On frame 1, right click on the Switch Layer and set hand to 'Open'. Then go to frame 72, right click on the Switch Layer and set hand to 'Closed'.

Are you right clicking on the switch layer and picking the layer you want or are you scrolling down inside the expanded layer? If you are manually clicking on a layer inside the switch layer it will not work right. You must right click on the switch layer and select the shape you desire.
