actions key frames and how they jump to mainline

I have found an amusing (tear my hair out) bug/issue and wanted to know if it is human error on my part somehow.

I'm using 5.6 Pro on Windows XP

I have about 5 actions created and a blank Mainline other than frame 0
I click on New Action button.
I have the bone layer selected by default so no change there.
I go to frame 1 and highlight a standard single framed action I made of the character simply standing.
I click Insert Copy.
I then select all (to select all bones) and add key frames for Bone angle, translation and scale. I then select the key frames and copy them and paste them for the end frame say 102 for example.
Now I start to add different key frame poses.
If I hit play, for some reason if will not loop back after the last frame, it will keep going. I look and I'm definitely in the action with a red arrow pointing to it.
So just to test it I double click on Mainline to make it active then double on the new action. Suddenly my poses are incomplete the back spine movements were gone the feet lock bone was off but other movement were still there. The arms for instant.

This has happen a few times. This last time I got lucky and saw that the Mainline had all the missing key frames (as I mentioned it was blank before). So I created and new action and insert copied both the animation in to it to fix the problem.

Did I make a mistake in my process that caused a bug like result or is this simply a known bug? Is it in version 6 pro?

This may be human error on my part. I found deeply hidden some key frames for layer images. Not sure how they got there but they caused problems with the action looping so possibly they caused the actions to become corrupt because the action animation was so long. The last key frame was up to 954.

Very strange. Hope this will fix the problem I had because for the most part the actions have worked pretty well.

Found the real route of the bug.

It seems when I turn on Lock Bone for the feet the problem begins.

I had an action and I had set two simple poses before realizing I forgot to lock the feet. So I went to frame one. Selected the feet and then locked them. As soon as I did this I lost parts of the poses in the arms and back.

Very odd but glad I know what causes it so I can somehow avoid it.

Let me know if this is a bug in 6. If so I'll try and log the bug.
