Here's a crazy experiment I tried.
I have 3 layers of lathed circle 3D layers bouncing along a non moving shape. The physics layer is rotated in 3D space and the camera adjusted to match the photo. There is masking in the group layer with a soft edge dark shape over the balls so they match the lighting of the photo as they bounce down the boat deck in the photo.
