Opacity doesn't animate in AS7

There seems to be a bug in the current upgrade of AS7:
When I change the opacity value somewhere in the timeline, it doesn't create a keyframe at the current time but only at the beginning of the layer. When I change the time and enter another value the first keyframe is being overwritten, but again not at the current time. Even right-clicking directly in the timeline "Add keyframe" doesn't help (the keyframe gets deleted as soon as I change the value in the Layer Settings).
This is very annoying because I can't make a level disappear! Has anyone experienced the same with the new version?
Please help! Thanks...

Have you ticked the "allow animated layer" option on the layer proprieties?
It's on top of the first tab.

That checkbox is there since version 6, so yes, it's relatively new.
