My first project

This was my first fully realized project using Anime Studio Debut. . . it took me four weeks of intermittent work from storyboards to "final" product. . . .

The director of the stage play said he wanted to do a cartoon to play during this one number . . and I (having no experience of cartooning besides watching them) said "sure, sounds like fun" . . . the animation runs on a screen while the cast from a children s show sings along to the canned music in the video . .

The show is "Schoolhouse Rock Live!" and this is for the song "Interplanet Janet". . I did 5 videos total for this production but this one was the major project . . .

all the animation was created using AS6 on a Mac Mini .. then the scenes (there are 31 of them) were stitched together using iMovie .. timing was adjusted to synchronize with the prerecorded music. . . and Bob's your uncle. . .

my only complaint (besides ALL the things I would keep playing with if the show hadn't opened) is the resolution of Debut is limited and I lost much of the crispness . . . not so bad on this video but one of the four others that I did for this show has text and it's not as clear as I'd like . . .

anyway .. here it is . . .

I like the planets and characters and it all works well with the music. Plus what a cool setup to combine your animation with the live singing performance!

That was good! :D Quite a major undertaking but you did it very well I thought. There are a lot of camera moves in there but everything flowed smoothly and held attention.

Resolution wise I'm sure it looked great in the show. Sometimes if it's too sharp it has that 'clinical computer' look and I know people that deliberately render to a lower resolution for commercials etc to get a 'warmer' look.

I never forget my first project. I am a computer engineer. My first project was in Visual Basic programming language. My first project title was "Hotel Management". We were two partners for that project. We got second prize for our project.

Nicely done! A LOT of work, and it does flow very smoothly. Also very close to the source-material cartoon style...

I also noticed a cool thing. Though there are no vocals (for obvious reasons, the children provided that), I can tell where the choruses are because this is where the animation repeats! So it is a 'visual chorus' so to speak!

I would love to see/hear a version with the vocals back in...
