Layer Ordering

How do I change the order of layers in the middle of an animation? For example in one frame a characters arm might be in front of them where as in another frame their arm is behind them.
your layers must be inside a bone or group layer. Then go to group/bone proprieties and in "depth sort" tab check "enable animated layer order".
Now anytime you reorder your layers in time, a keyframe will be generated on the bone/group layer.
