erm yeah now that i found my serial number... on the mac envelope, as i am using the windows one.
i enter it in to the feild first with the dashes - and then without and they both dont work is it me typing it wrong or is it s bug of some sort...

Try using zeros (0) and not (o) and it might be case sensitive also.

yeah hehehe the serial number is case sensitive.
but the number on the mac envelope is quite misleading... as it is in capital letters i typed it as it was on the enelope-didn't work. but then ah a i typed it with dashes but the letters are lower case and it worked.

a suggestion:
make the letters in the serial number on the envelope as lower case letters,
would cause less fuss and confusion.
