White Outline Around Rendered and Previewed PNG images

I am using hand drawn images that I convert to PNG's in photoshop and use in AS.
The problem is that whenever I render the images I get a tiny white/beige outline around the image. I didn't really notice it for the first couple of renders, but I do now and it's a problem.
I went back and made sure the images didn't have a feathered outline as a result of Photoshop. The images are sharp and clean with no aliasing.
The outline doesn't show up on the images when they're in the workspace. They only show up in the final render or previews.
I could sure use some help with figuring this out.

Hi Bobjobs.
I would have to say I think there is an antialiasing or feathering mark on your images. Have you tried using the selection tool in Photoshop and deleting the area where the white lines are appearing? Remember.....AS has trouble reloading images so you might have to rename them after editing, resavng and import backinto AS.
Cheers

Did you premultiply the exported png from photoshop?

I can't replicate the fringes. I have never had issues with fringes in AS using photoshop and fireworks.
Were the images in photoshop created from "scratch" or were they images you opened and "masked"? Like a photo or image from another source? What was the source? You are absolutely certain there is no fringe in the original files? Put a dark background layer in photoshop behind the image layers and zoom in to make sure.
If the images/layers in photoshop do have a fringe use the "de-fringe" or layer matting tools in photoshop. This may or may not solve the problem. The best bet to be sure is to crop in on the transparency and remove the white edges.
To "update" images in AS just close and reopen the AS file. The images will update.

Uhm, problem is known since v5. Even a PNG with no alpha channel, just a straight rectangle, shows the white outline.

In this thread, slowtiger addresses the white "rim" by adding a 1px feathered outline when he cut things by hand (he uses TVPaint).

You could experimenting with various feathering and reducing the alpha mask when you make the png.
edit: oops, slowtiger beat me, but I hope this will still help.

DK--
I have played with feathering, but the problem there is that I get a slighter darker outline where the white matter line used to be. What I'm doing is animating a face. I've drawn a blank face (no eyes or mouth) for the body, and am using a mouth with a jawline for the mouth positions.
When I place the phoneme "mouths" on top of the blank face I see the white outline. I try to put a feather on it and see a faint dark outline instead.
J. Baker.
I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by "premultiply."
HeyVern--
I made the images myself, hand drawn, then scanned and colored in Photoshop.
BTW, I've tried "cutting" away the white matte, but no matter how much I cut the white outline is still there. As slowtiger said, it doesn't seem to make any difference what I try to do about it in Photoshop short of feathering which produces, as I said above, a just as undesireable effect.

Is it possible to post an example AS file?

I put it on megaupload. Hope nobody minds.

Also I chose this one because it features a second issue I've been having with AS albeit only from time to time. I will select a soundtrack and it will come into AS fine and play for lip-synciing purposes, but when I export the final animation there's no sound.
I've tried rendering from frame 0 --AS always defaults to exporting animations from frame one unless I specify otherwise-- but that doesn't work.
The files are always wav files saved at 44khz. How it can handle some just fine and others not at all makes no sense

I believe that I have also experienced this, and with some other applications. But, after so many years, it's a bit of a blur. While this is being figured out, you can keep working easier by rendering a frame larger than your pan range (if your comping this in another program). I typically render 2880 x 1620; 1.5 times HD. Edges will be beyond your finished frame. The PNG file will not be significantly larger in KB's, particularly if you're adding empty space.

I think I should test this issue more systematically, but can't before Tuesday since my main workplace machine died this week.
