Here is a quote from tutorial 5.8 (AS7PRO):
Anime Studio isn’t a full 3D program - layers in Anime
Studio are 2D planes that exist in a 3D space.
I guess this is what you could classify as a 'reverse complaint'...hehe

How exactly ISN'T Anime Studio a full 3D program?

The fallacy in the above quote is that 'Anime Studio layers are 2D planes'. That is true is true for many uses. But, as I recall, I can also make 3D objects (i.e., NOT flat) in Anime Studio as well!

All layers can be fully manipulated in 3D (transpose, rotate, scale), and there are 3D cameras!

Seems like a 3D animator to me! :)

judging from the passage you quoted i would say full 3d would be 3d planes existing in 3d space for starters :D

interesting that the debut user manual doesnt have that tutorial 5.8 (obviously meant for pro version) BUT it has tutorial 4.4 which is also meant for pro.

AS is 2d software which have some 3d features to help you on your 2d animation. That's all, we are not talking about maya, 3d studio max, animation master, blender or similar. we still talking about 2d. it's not too hard to understand.

There is a 3D program called Swift 3D that is built for working in a 3D environment and exporting the animation/objects into Flash. It even does the cartoon rendering via their proprietary rendering engine Ravix. This render engine is so good at what it does Autodesk bought a license for it.
