Today New Zeland suffered damage from a 7.0 magnitude earthquake, the epicenter was close to Christchurch.

From what I am reading there are no deaths reported. He might have lost his ISP though. I hope that's all it is.

Wow, i didn't see this thread before!
Thanks so much for your thoughts... we're all fine - we lost electricity but were in a less affected area - our internet and electricity was only down for a few hours! I have family on the other side of town - they were fine as well... it's amazing that no one died - it was on the same magnitude as Haiti!
My other half was shook up for a few days, the following days we had over 300 aftershocks of varying strength (up to 5.5 or so!) but things seem to be settling down...
