is it possible to merge layers?
Also, I'm trying to mask a shape. it was pretty easy, except that I want the fill of the shape to mask, but not the line around the shape. Anyone know how I can do this?

Hello Risk,

If you are in selection mode you can select all, then cut-and-paste between layers - well, at least vector layers, which are the only ones I've tried. Otherwise, you can group layers to apply an affect on more than one layer.

Apply a shadow, with expansion but no offset or blur, to the whole masking group to simulate an unmasked line around the mask shape.
See an example image and Moho file in my posting in
this thread.

Thanks

Thanks a million Myles!
Unfortunatly, before I read this post, I spent many, many hours fooling around. I was able to get a similar result, but this is a much simplier and cleaner way to do it.
I had duplicated a series of layers so I had the same shapes stacked on top of one another, then I used a bone rig to manipulate all of the points at the same time. Combined with a simple mask sandwiched in the middle, it worked pretty good and certainly looks good when rendered, but your idea is much better. I'm sure I'll be using it a lot. Thanks for posting.
