I have downloaded the trial version of AnimeDebut and have run into some problems that I hope someone might be able to help with. I am hoping to animate a line drawing of a Boeing AWACs (an E-3D over here) in plan form. I want the radar dome which is a black circle with a stripe to slowly rotate and the aircraft to move about the page.

I attempted to draw the circle with a stripe using a circle and a filled rectangle. Unfortunately I could not find any tools to align the two vector objects nor could I fine any way to unite/join them so that the stipe has curved ends from the circle. I have checked the documentation but not found anything but I am hoping that I have missed something obvious.

Next I attempted to import two vector images drawn saved as .SVG and PDF but the demo (at least) refuses to import them. I did manage to import a PNG bit map but most of the tools only work with vector objects.

So, have I missed the vector alignment and merging tools and is it possible to import and use vector images in the paid for versions of the software (Debut and/or Pro)?

Hi Skids! In anime studio all the vector data is the basis for the shapes. You create a vector frame that is invisible in the final animation and then you can select closed profiles or sections of lines as the parameters for a shape. Shapes are the lines and fills that show up in your actual renders and animation. (Sometimes AS will automatically put a shape on your vectors, but these can be removed and the vectors remain in tact.) The welding tutorial starting on page 17 of the manual should help, especially pages 24-6.

thanks for the info - I have just completed the tutorial and have managed to get my imported image rotating, which is encouraging. However, I have chosen to rotate my image through 360 degrees and then loop back to the first frame. It works except the animation has acceleration i.e. the rotation stops or pauses at the loop point/time. Is there any way of removing this acceleration? Also is there a way of rotating a layer by exactly an amount, so far I have just eyeballed it?

Set your first key interpolatoipn to "linear" to get a constant rotation speed.

On top of your project window you can see and enter rotation amount in degrees.

Trick to get a good rotation loop: set start at 1, end at 30 (example), rotate exactly once (press shift key while rotate), don't forget linear interpolation, then create key at 29 and set cycle from there.

Thanks slowtiger, its now working a treat! I have no idea how I missed the angle box at the top of the screen.
