There will be special upgrade pricing available - Normally $19.99 for upgrades to Debut, and $129.99 for upgrades to Pro, but will be discounted for 5 days (June 8-12) for only $14.99 to Debut and 99.99 to Pro for previous owners with a serial number.

I noticed that not all tools are visible all the time in the videos. I guess it's context sensitive now, so no drawing tools when a bone layer is selected etc.

I'm curious about the character wizard. Might be useful if it's very customizable.

Overall the new version doesn't look too exciting.

EDIT: the trace function actually looks useful for some things as well (background stuff, too many points for characters), but I was still hoping for more since it's version 8 and not 7.5

Yes, this is confusing.

On their Facebook page they said:

"There is no additional discount depending on purchase date or version. If you purchased after May 8th, you qualify for a free upgrade, otherwise on June 8th, anyone with a previous serial number will qualify for the same upgrade pricing. ($99 for Pro for 5 days only, or $129.99 after.)"

So if you have an old version, and want to update you will save $30 ($129 - $99). But if you are new, you will save $70 ($199.99 - $129.99).

I guess they have two versions of the sales page for up-graders and new customers. But the upgrade price should then read... Save 23% off Pro upgrade $129.99 now $99... and not Save 50% off Pro $199 now $99.99

Why such a high price to upgrade to pro?
I know its a nice product, but an upgrade is usually not at 50% of the cost or more.

$129.99 has been the Pro upgrade price since Moho to Anime Studio 5 Pro several years ago. The 5 day sale is the first time upgrades have been discounted to $99.

I would like to know if the digital version now includes Windows and OSX now?

Before (I have V5 Pro) it was a separate purchase while the physical version came with both.

Yes! Digital versions come with both dmg and exe installers.

Great, as I have switched to OSX 3 years ago, I will upgrade then.

Hi. I am interested to buy Anime Studio 8 in 5-day sales discount, but in the shopping cart if I set currency to Euros, the discount disappears. Is this discount only for US residents? $ 129.99 are 88.85 euros, but it appears as 136.49, the prize without any disccount. I am from spain.

They just fixed it so that now the change in currency should reflect the discount. Sorry about that!
