An issue from AS to Final Cut

Hello,

A project calls to export an animation sequence from Anime Studio to be inserted into a live-action project being edited in Final Cut at 24p, 720x480.

If I export from AS at 720x480 it stretches the picture and adds bars to both sides in Final Cut. I'm guessing because of square pixels. Could anyone kindly shed some light on how to adjust this problem.

Thank you, Dale

while I have never used Final Cut, I do us Sony Vegas Pro though and It happens in Vegas when the preview video is not matching the imported video's ratio. Try setting the preview ratio to mach the the AS ratio. Should be in the project setting.

I actually do not bother resetting the ratio for the preview video when I am editing. I just make sure that the rendering settings are set correct before I hit OK.

I also don't use Final Cut, but Premiere has a default pixel aspect ratio it applies to undefined image sequences. This can be set in preferences. Also, when you import, you can right click on the image sequence and "modify>interpret footage" before adding it to the sequence. I've had to do that a lot because it assigns the wrong frame rate and pixel aspect ratio.

Maybe Final Cut has similar issues.
