NEWBIE ALERT - Adding points

Post by mnartist »

Just starting with ASP8, and this sounds like it should be so simple, but can't quite figure it out.

I'm trying to do an animation of a seed that grows into a plant with roots. So the seed is fairly small, but the roots and plants get complicated as it grows. I was trying to add points to the seed vector once I get to a certain point in the animation, but it doesn't like like I'm able to. Is that correct? The Add Point tool disappears.

Go to the edit/preferences menu and un-check the enable drawing tools on frame zero only option. Now you should be able to add more points. This kind of thing might be better using the stroke exposure tool.

bear in mind that adding points at any other frame still creates the point at frame 0, and therefore it will appear across your entire animation... if you've already a load of animation you'll have to fix that points position across the timeline whe're it's wrong as it won't have any keyframes by default.

the best way is to make your seed sufficiently full of points so that you can achieve what you need to without adding points later.

once it starts to grow, add a new, denser layer, layed over the top which continues to grow seamlessly so you can introduce a lot of detail without all the fuss!
