Hello,
I am working in AS8.1- I have tried many times to import psd files into AS and no matter how simple the image, it imports as a gray rhomboid shape. I am saving the files in eps format and then using the import function in AS- what am I doing wrong?? Any help is appreciated....

Wrong file format. Save it as PNG (allows alpha channel) or JPG.

AS can work with eps files, just not very well. Like slowtiger said, maybe try a different format. If you want a vector format, maybe try svg. AS8.1 does a decent job with that format.

Probably I'm not understanding, but have you tried to save your file as .psd (and not as eps) and import it to AS?

jonbo: Photoshop creates EPS files very different from Illustrator. The only part of EPS AS can understand is vector information. The only vector information which gets stored in a Photoshop EPS is a clipping path. AS will ignore all bitmap information in an EPS.

I don't use photoshop, but try transforming the vector stuff into raster layers, then save it as psd and import it on AS.
That should work. Exporting to png is fine, but directly import layered psd files save you a lot of work.

Hi, did you try this: File/Import/
IMAGE
than pick your *.psd and AS8 asks you:
INDIVIDUALLY or
COMPOSITE?
1st creats
differnt layers (depending on your psd),
2nd the complete pic
on one layer.
Hope it helps.
