Hi, I haven't yet got round to getting my avatar profile picture up, what image format and size does it need to be? and how do you guys get your cool animated

From the profile page:

Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts. Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 80 pixels, the height no greater than 80 pixels, and the file size no more than 6 KB.

but you can get bigger than 6K by linking to an image / GIF on another server (very last box on the profile page). but DO try to stick close-ish to the 80*80 pixel limit.... (e.g. Genete's is nearly 50Kb, linked from offsite and is 150*80 )
