AS 6 to AS 8

Hello,

I have been using AS 6.2 for a couple of years, and it runs fine on my aging computer: Win XP P4 3 Ghz processor, 3 gigs ram, geforce 6200 512 card.

My question is, if I upgrade to AS 8 should I expect for it to run as well (the listed system specs say it should) or is it a more demanding version?

I should mention that I'm speaking of the Pro version of each, and by upgrade I mean purchase AS 8Pro.

Thanks

It should, although some of the new features like 3D objects and physics can be resource intensive. You can always try out the trial version first to see how your system likes it. :)

Hi,

thanks, yea the demo is the logical solution and I'll probably try that, I noticed at Smith Micro that they require a credit card to try the demo and I'd purchase AS 8 from Amazon since I have a account there so I was just wondering what peoples experience has been, but trying the demo would be best.

My wanting to upgrade to AS 8 is because of the choice for full time round edges on lines instead of the script that allows you to do that on selected lines, that never worked too well for me.

You might to look at this. I don't know of Fahim still is doing it, but might be worth a try.

Hey thanks Jonbo, I will give that a try.

Am I correct that the only way to apply round edges on line ends prior to AS8 is to use the script? That is my major reason for upgrade, since I don't use 3d object or physics engine introduced in AS7

Thanks again
