What things effect Render Times

Has anyone noticed better render speeds on different numbers or types of processor?

AMD, Intel, single processor, dual processor, multi-threading, hyper-threading etc . . .

OR has anyone ever noticed any render throughput hits for particular funtions? For example:
- using large bitmaps as backgrounds
- using particular effects (shadows, shading, z/y rotations, extreme scaling, particles)
- output types (quicktime, jpeg, tga)

Moho doesn't make use of multiple processors when rendering. If you have multiple processors, it will keep your computer more repsonsive, so you can work on other things while rendering, but it won't speed up the rendering itself.

As far as things that affect rendering speed, the main cause of slowdowns is blurring. Blurring is used in several places: layer blurs, soft edge fill effect, shadows, shading, motion blur, depth of field, etc. Moho 5 speeds up blurring significantly.

If you have a particle layer with lots of particles (especially if those particles are all blurred), that can take a while to render too.

Finally, the Splotchy fill effect can be expensive. I've noticed that people sometimes use it on an object that fills up most of the scene - that can cause render times to really take a hit.
