Can 2 shapes share the same points?

Hi, I'm new to the MOHO demo and while I'm finding it great, there is one thing that is kinda bothering me.
To make my explanation easier, here is an image that I can refer to:

I'm attempting to draw a similar mouth in MOHO but am a little stuck. What I've been doing is creating the outline of the dark mouth area, making that a shape, then making another shape for the teeth area, and trying to join the two. What would be ideal, is if I could create a shape with multiple segments, and colour each individually, but it seems that can't be done.
What would be the general technique for drawing such a mouth, keeping in mind I'd want to do fairly basic lip synching - in the order of 5 different frames or so.
I imagine that the tongue at the back would be best off with using masking, but the teeth baffles me a little. Any advice people can give would be awesome!
