I recently animated a 2:25 minute long animation for a company.
The style of the animation is very similar to this animation:

Right now they only plan to pay me $45 dollars.
Should I charge more?
How much?

I wouldn't even open the program for 45 bucks. If you worked 8 hrs a day for 5 days a week for two months to make it then you should charge what ever it takes to pay the bills over that time span.

I'm new to the idea of selling animations for money,and was just unsure.

$45? For the whole animation or per second?

If that is the entire payment not only is it not enough it's insulting and unprofessional for someone to expect to pay that little for ANY type of work. $45 dollars for that type of work is a joke. If this is a FOR profit company and they pay all of their other bills, like electricity, payroll, taxes etc, why can't they pay you properly for the an animation that will bring in more money?

Even if you are a HORRIBLE animator, the worst ever in the whole world, $45 is not enough. A flip book cartoon of stick figures drawn in the corner of a note pad would take longer than $45 is worth.

Look into animation pricing, usually it is per second.

p.s. We did a huge website redesign for a non-profit organization. We charged them a small fraction of what the actual price would have been. We got a big ad on their site and could write this off as a large donation, but we still got paid a reasonable fee.
