Hi guys. So, I've been asked fairly frequently about tutorials. I have a gap of sorts and I figured it's be a good time to put something together.

So, explaining things as simply as I can, here's how I use Photoshop and Anime Studio together. Hope you get something out of it. If you like it let me know, I may make more, maybe host the project files on my site to download for a small fee, I think there's quite a bit of stuff to cover.

very nice. very very nice. More stuff like this would be great.
Even though my skill set is maybe a little ahead of this, I still learned a little from this.

Having a separate group layer for vertical and horizontal movements is a great idea.
Also, adding them extra key frames in the jump makes a big difference in how it looks.

I finally had a chance to view this. I've seen or read about these techniques in various posts, but it's incredibly useful watching you put it all together. I particularly like your technique for timing the jump. Pro stuff, man.

As a side note, I followed along using ArtRage4, which exports to psd files, and works just fine.

Holy cow! It's fascinating to see how nearly everyone has favorite ways to do things that are so different. For example keeping the horizontal and vertical movement separate is something I would never have thought of. Show that to the developers to explain why vertical and horizontal movement should be on separate channels already. Make our work so much easier. I am way to lazy to select another folder to move in x and y. That trick with the "easing" of the jump is something I burned into my memory. I've been using bezier curves and the motion graph for that. The key frame trick is faster and just as effective.

One small teeny tiny complaint about the presentation; you may want to consider decreasing the screen resolution just a bit. At that resolution watching full screen on a smaller monitor, the menus and palettes are a teeny tiny bit hard to see.

p.s. I find listening to tutorials to be more fun with "Cool Foreign Accents". I rarely leave the house and hate to travel. The closest I come to hearing an exotic foreign accent where I live is Pennsylvania Dutch, and they never do computer tutorials... farming tutorials maybe... but not computer tutorials.

Hey Vern, thanks. Yes, I also thought it may be an idea to scale down resolution. A lot of tutorials already do this.

Re: Motion Graph - well whaddya know. I've had a look at the manual and only now discovered how to manipulate these bezier curves in graph mode.

Wonderful Mike. I will watch all your future tutorials. I also import layered image files from photoshop and am really interested to see more of your workflow. I learned a lot from tutorial and will watch it a few more times.
