Head Turn With Smart Bones
I have been trying to do a head turn using smart bones, but failing. I start by putting the head in a separate bone layer, within the bone layers of the full character. I add one control bone, B1. I set bone strength to zero. I set the bone constraints. I create an action called B1 and within that action, I move bone B1 down, and move points to create the rotated head view. When I return to the mainline, bone B1 is no longer up, but is still in the down position. When I select a point in the timeline and rotate bone B1, either nothing happens, or the head will just orbit around the position of the control bone, but not do the turn. When I reopen the B1 action in the actions palette, the head turn is still there, it just doesn't seem to have gotten set to the control bone. I have tried with points bound to B1, and not bound. Sometimes the control bone will not rotate, but will only flicker between full up and full down, when I try to move it, and nothing on the character moves. I know I am missing something. Any ideas?

Re: Head Turn With Smart Bones
when you say "move the bone down" do you mean ROTATE IT? bone position doesn't work with SBs.
Also, double check you're naming things right.
Failing that - post a file and we'll see what you're up to

Re: Head Turn With Smart Bones
I set up a simpler test rig and got it to work. The problem was layer names not matching the action names.
