Greetings!

So here's my 1 post for the year. I really have to start posting more. Full time work AND school make it a little difficult. Blah.

Some staging sketches of a wrestler about to pounce. This was done for my Flash class (ssshhh, don't tell Anime Studio I'm cheating on it).

Wow, those are beautiful drawings! Are you in school to study animation specifically? If this project is still in work, you could add more power to the jump by tweaking the anticipation pose so that the knees are even more bent relative to the previous pose. Although, it would be difficult to draw with his legs so far apart. I think it would be possible if his weight was shifted more to one side and the legs were slightly more asymmetrical. The leg with the most weight (and more bent) would be more pointed in the direction he was jumping. Okay, finding myself acting out your animation, I think I'm getting carried away, here. :) I just think this is a cool project!

Absolutely! Unfortunately the project is turned in already. BUT, I do plan to work on this sequence beyond class for my own merit. Yes, I know exactly what you mean and I'll certainly incorporate that in the rework. :) I chuckled when you said you found yourself acting out the poses. I hope you didn't hurt yourself. :)

I'm actually studying graphic design. The school I'm attending also offered digital media, but I wanted to round myself out a little more. I knew getting into graphic design would bring me out of my comfort zone (and wow, has it). Learning about all aspects of design has been extremely helpful, and has really pushed me to do better with "design" in general. I never thought I would like typography, or layout design. Now I find myself analyzing EVERYTHING. Ultimately I would like to work for an animation studio. I think that's where my heart is.

Thanks for the feedback!

Nice solid drawings. If you are working out poses though, I'd recommend working even simpler and having more key poses. It would be easier to tell if the poses flow. As Lwaxana pointed out, would it really be possible to get that much air starting out from a super wide stance like that? The anticipation would be more compressed I would think.

But yeah, great solidity to your art. I'm sure you're blowing away your fellow students with your drawing ability (if typical Flash animation is any indication).

Hi neeters_guy - Thank you sir.

Great points all around, I tend to get carried away with line work early on. As far as the starting stance, yeah, the legs are starting to look outta whack. I need to bring them closer together and have more "squash" in the next pose. Thanks for the feedback!

I checked out your page, great 30 second vids! Where do you get your audio? Is there a good repository you can direct me to?

Thanks again!

Flash?!?! OUT!

Just kidding. Nice drawings and I have to agree with what's been said: the upper body makes a nice crouch pose, but the legs don't move at all. If he tried to jump he'd just fall over. The others look really great.

Lovely drawings.
As others have said it would be even better if you could add an image that depicts more anticipation.
After your second image you could add a drawing of him crouched much lower down and twisted to his right, just before he launches off the ground.
