whats the point of imports from Poser

What exactly can you do with a 3d import from Poser 9?
I imported a parrot just to play with. I see you can pose him just like in Poser, however moving and zooming the layer seems to be difficult. I am trying to figure out how to integrate some of my Poser objects into my animation.
For starters, is there a way to rotate the 3d object without rotating the entire workspace?
I am aware that AS9 is a 2d program, however, there IS a reason for these imports. hopefully someone here has some knowledge on this.
