3D object animation questions

Hi all. I'm working on a job that I hope I can mostly do with Anime Studio. One element of it would be an object that looks something like this.
It would have to rotate as well. My questions aren't specific, I never really got ASP for 3D but if I could keep this bit of business inside the one program that would be pretty cool so now I'm suddenly trying to get to grips with the 3D side of this program. Having loaded a test object into ASP and played around a bit it looks like I should be able to achieve the look but I straight up have some questions.
And are there any tutorials or places I can go to that talk about the 3D object manipulation and set up in ASP? Things like using the camera and just navigating the 3D space of the program.

AS can't create this kind of 3D object. You need to create something like that in a 3D application and import it.
That said, I could do some movements with an objectlike this in 2D if I construct it for that. What's it going to do?

Hi Slow tiger, that object you see is the imported 3D object I created in another app and imported to ASP, so it's just about setting up the camera correctly and shooting it as the spiral shape rotates. That's all it has to do actually, but I'm not sure if there is a better way to navigate the scene, a more exact method. Things like adjusting the camera, for instance I had to shrink the object quite a lot and zoom the camera in on it took get rid of camera distortion.
And how do I set the rotational pivot of the object so that it rotate on it's center?
Just a bunch of basic questions that I'd probably figure out if I had a week (but don't sadly).
I couldn't find much in the manual, actually I couldn't find a current manual either.

Have you tried to put that object inside a group layer and rotate this? Try each axis until you find the right one.
Also there's something in the Script menu > 3D > rotate XYZ, but I've never tried that.

Thanks Slowtiger. That script just rotates the object once, like if you just want to re-position the rotation without doing it manually. When I put the object into a group layer it disappears from view. It seems easiest to just key-frame the Y rotation and put a cycle on the last key frame. I guess I got it working and I think I'm only going to need a loop anyway so I can render this one element out and composite it with the non 3D stuff.
I do wonder though, that since part of the positioning process involved moving the camera, does it mean any non 3D vector stuff I do will still work along side it? 3D inside ASP is a bit of a mind twister as I have just been thinking of it as a 2D tool.
