A Reel of Some Sort

Post by sargumphigaus »

with the start of the new year i see a bunch of reels. so uh...here's mine, only thing is it covers the last two years instead of just 2013.

I should add that my work is extremely dark. Viewer discretion is advised.

Nice one! You've got some really intriguing work in this reel. Depending on the purpose of your reel, I would actually suggest shortening it and honing in on the strongest pieces. Right now if someone stopped the video in the first thirty seconds, they would miss most of the parts I thought were the strongest. My favorites were the piece at 28 seconds, 1:04-1:11 seconds, 1:30-1:40 seconds, 1:47-1:52 seconds, and 2:27-2:34 seconds.

This is something of an understatement.

Nice reel. The cowboy-looking guy at about 20 seconds in was my favorite. Something about his movements just screamed "I'm the happiest guy in the world" and made me chuckle a bit. At seconds there's a guy with an odd, hinged jaw that reminds me of the guy in Economy Man who gets beaten senseless. He laughs just before that happens and his mouth is also just as exaggerated. He's not the same guy, is he?

Anyway, very good job!

It's not the same character. In the world of economy man, there are many representations of human degradation, and jaw structures play a large role. The guy with the hinge in the reel has only one attachment to his face, leaving the jaw to hang and flap around like a severed bug leg. (and yet functions just fine when it comes to verbalization) The laughing guy was a normal human being with a normal jaw, I just gave him a huge mouth for the sake of exaggerating his happiness, which hopefully drives home the tragic absurdity of him getting the crap knocked out of him along side his girlfriend getting eviscerated by a grey dude.

OK, I thought maybe he came back later. Reanimated or something.

I'm also glad that you knew who I mean since although I could swear I typed "At 54 seconds," only "At seconds" came across.

well thing is, the jaw dude (i forgot what I named him) is from the first economy man, and he didn't exactly come out of it in tact. He got turned into a tree by grey people with overbites.
