Hi.
Not posted a lot recently due to work but wanted to share this one.
I tried to set up this crumbling text effect for a TV commercial in Lightwave 3D
and it took hours and got me nowhere near what I envisaged so I sat down with
AS to figure a way to simulate it as a 3D effect and it worked!
Basically I split the dollar sign up into bits/extruded them then used a mask and
physics
Nice work sbtamu
Did the fly in frame contain the objects on it's transition or did you render the scene flat in AS then apply a fly in transition in a video editor?
Never thought to do this in AS, (here's a crumbling text I did in Blender a few years ago if anyone's interested in a 3D example: https://vimeo.com/4042447).
Hi DK!
The tutorial is quite concise and instructive! It would be great to have a script to make easier the copy/break down process of the shape.
Cheers!

this is a great example of where a slideshow is 1000 times better than a video .. I dread to think that someone else might have just posted a screen capture of themself going through each of the 38 layers one by one narrating every point deletion ... thanks for the insight and the easy to follow (at my own pace!) tutorial!!

Cool idea Genete and Selgin! Thanks for the compliments Hayasidist. I tried to make it as user friendly as possible.
Screen capture was way too huge so I just exported still frames and made it as a controlled slideshow in Wink.
