I thought the same thing and was especially thrown because the guy didn't have the ping pong paddle when he first walked up. And do people carry chicken in their back pocket? I mean, I know I do, but I thought it was somewhat frown on.

I would direct you to watch
Scabie Babies and see if you still think that.

Haha, I enjoy this whole exchange. (Not that I wish the forum was more like facebook or anything, but sometimes I wish there was just a "like" button for comments here, so I could just express my like for something without feeling the need to weigh in on the subject. Maybe there is? I'm newish here.)
But anyway, since I'm here I may as well weigh in on Chicken Monster. I guess I would say that this is growing on me a little bit. (into
what I'm not sure

) Maybe simply because of the "worst plot ever" comment. Self awareness is pretty important, as well as the ability to poke some fun at yourself.
Noting that, I also agree that it's not the worst plot ever, even if "plot" isn't what I would call it per se. Plenty of stupid or silly concepts can work with right treatment, and can wind up being quite funny. The larger failing here is the execution. Like others, I couldn't tell enough of what was happening to really know whether it was good or bad. (Which, then just defaults to "bad")
I'm going to start with a couple things I do like: I like the exclamation point in the title. "Rests!" is just kinda funny to me.
And i think the background characters playing at the beginning are done well. Simple. But I can tell exactly what they are doing.
But then a guy falls out of the sky, and so begins a list of things I don't understand:
-Falling guy. Why does this happen? Maybe just something goofy to grab attention. Even so, the shadow below him starts quite large and gets smaller as he approaches the ground. Direct light may cause this effect, but outdoor sunlight is diffused much more around a small object resulting in a small shadow or no shadow at all until very close.
-I know he's a chicken and some kind of monster at that, what's with his shape? Is he supposed to be in the shape of a "C"? Ok. I can dig it.
-Thought bubble. CM is recalling something. Flying or flailing and then notices himself hammering on something? What does this mean?
-Pouring beer into a spoon...ok. But how or why would the beer ignite and explode?
-The pingpong paddle chicken leg. This is the closest to explaining why CM gets angry and violent, but it occurs at the very end, so even if I could tell what that was I don't know that I would have pieced it back together with all of the things I had just seen.
Anyway, don't really mean to get on a rant and tear this apart. Obviously it's meant to be goofy and quirky. But I think for the positives to shine through, the story telling has to become much clearer. Otherwise it just seems to be a cluster of random events regardless of certain moments of effective technique.
