I feel like the characters are moving too stiffly I'm pretty sure they can flow better than that. Should I add more body parts or bones?

I'm not going to say anything about your drawing skills because I cant draw anything. But, as for the animation. Yes its a little rough, but that will improve with time and practice.
So just for FUN and PRACTICE do the following.
1)Save the file under a new name. This is to protect what you have already done.
2) then while on frame zero click on your bone layer to select your bone layer.
3)then Up in the file menu choose Animation then scroll down to Clear Animation and choose From Document. This will delete all of the animation in the file. All the artwork is still there, only now it is no longer animated.
4) NOW___Just re-animate it... Practice practice practice. No harm done. the software is very flexible like that.

I downloaded the file to play with it and I will tell you this. I ALSO RECOMMEND Labeling each and every layer while building them. This thing is a nightmare! SORRY FOR BEING SO BLUNT. How can you possibly know what they are for? Labeling them would have made it easier for you to know what is what. Maybe this is overstating the obvious, but wow. I do recommend labeling the layers, it would make your life animating and/or drawing it a little easier I think.

Anyway, I'm assuming this is one of your first attempts at using Anime Studio. Good job, its not as bad as you think for a first try or two.

Well actually it isn't my first time, and the drawing style is inspired by 1930's animation. Oh gosh now I know this is bad. By thank you!

I probably should name the layers but man oh man there are a lot. I just click on them with the direct layer selection

LOL I didn't say it was bad, I said the animation was rough.

I do see the 1930s inspiration.
Although, after I took a better look at the file, There are some advanced things going on in there.
1) layer ordering
2) masking
3) and some point animation I think too.
4) also, the use of switch layers

The head turns on both characters are actually well done. You animated the points. That's pretty involved stuff. I think there maybe better ways to do a head turn, BUT I'm not good enough to give advise on that at this time.

Ok, I apologize. You do seam to know what your doing at least a little bit.
Keep trying. If your version of the software has it, look into some smart bone setups.
