When I create a shape with the freehand drawing tool it seems to always default to a border with stroke exposure. I can select all points and click and drag for no exposure with exposure tool but then I get no border at all. If I create shapes from the built-in shapes (square, circle, etc...) or just with add points tool, it gives a consistant constant stroke exposure which is what I want. How do I make "no stroke exposure" the default for freehand, and if I have a shape with stroke exposure is there an easy way to remove it and revert to a constant width as defined by stroke width value in the shape properties?

do you mean line width?

if so:

freehand: in the options dropdown, select "none" for variable line width and uncheck "taper start" and "taper end"

constant line width: select all the points, then the activate the line width tool (shortcut W) and set 100% (AS 10). If you then need to change the line width to a different constant value, rather than setting, say, 50% or 200%, I'd use the select shape (shortcut Q) tool, click on the shape and set the line width in the style window.
