So for those of you here familiar with animestudiotutor.com they do periodic animation contests...this month's theme is "an animated ant" - so I made this short and am planning on submitting it. Check it out, comments/critique/input welcome :)

Looked good. The old dude's cane did a weird thing at the end you may want to fix.

It looks great and the detailing on the ants is incredible. If I changed anything, it would be to remove the old man's line at the end. It actually kind of ruins the great shock gag by having him explain it. It could just go right from the squish to him walking away - making him oblivious to what just happened kind of helps the joke.

It looks great. One thing I think may help is to add some outdoor sounds. Birds, cars....that type of thing. The voice over comes in kind of abruptly and the absence of sound is a little odd in some parts. Nice video, I really like the drawing of the old man.

Sven, I really liked your suggestion about the outdoor sounds, I had planned to do that when I was conceptualizing the whole thing in my head at the beginning, and got so mucked down in animating it I forgot all about it. Another forum mentioned using shadows...I think once I get those two things incorporated and adjust the volumes of the soundclips relative to eachother I'll finally be happy with it.

So I took some suggestions from this forum and the Kelleytown members to improve my video. Added shadows, outdoor background sounds, and I feel most important was audio adjustments so the relative volume of each soundbite fits much more smoothly and naturally. MAKE SURE TO SET YOUR VIEWING SETTINGS TO HD720 AND GIVE IT TIME TO LOAD...it was a big file and I couldn't reduce the bit-rate without losing quality or rather I don't knoe hiw ! :(

If you haven't visited or don't have a login to animestudiotutor.com check it out and don't forget to vote for this month's competition! (preferrably for me!) ;)
