Switch layer not working

I have a rigged character with Switch layers for both hands. The right hand works normally, as expected. The left hand does not. I can switch left hands but only on frame 0. When I animate the hand/arm from frame 1 on the hands will NOT switch. Any ideas why?

If you have the switch keyframed in a smartbone action, and the bone is making that action active (i.e. not default rotation), the smartbone will override any manual keyframes you try to set.

Thanks, Synthsin for the speedy reply. I found some funky keyframes in my actions panel so I am redoing the smart bone action for the left arm.
There is one thing that is driving me nuts and that is that my bones keep turning dark green. Tech support did not give me an adequate answer for this.
Do you have any explanation as to why bones turn dark green?

Well, bones going green is a sign for healthy decaying, but only in a forest ...

I would guess you are talking about while you're in a SB action. If so, any bones that are keyframed in the SB action, and unselected, are colored to show you they are keyframed. It's not the same green color you can add to the bone, just a kind of bolded bone.
