Hello,

Although I bought AS Pro since version 8, I really have not had time to learn it and use it until now. I'm using AS Pro 10.1

Here are my first animation tests.

I took this photo from a friend of mine's sketchbook:
Image

And made this experiment:

I didn't like much the hair movement but had some trouble with point binding and decided to leave it like that. This is just a test after all, I think the problem was I just traced the image without adding extra lines for animation. Any comments and tips will be appreciated.

Thanks.

That looks great! I like the design. I noticed some areas on the pen are transparent and others are not. What did you use to maintain the background texture, but make it look filled in?

Yes, the pen transparent areas are another mistake, they should be filled in.

The trick to get that effect is very simple: I use white fill and a coloured stroke in most of the shapes of the drawing in the vector layers, then the bone layer has Multiply blending mode, and that makes it happen as it applies the blending mode to the result of the whole group of nested layers.

First I thought I'd have to render the animation and then composite the background with AE or Final Cut, but it's awesome the way AS works with blending modes and layer nesting. A real time saver!
