Camera Rotating Around Animated Characters

Hi, I wondered if anyone has tips on the best approach to animate a scene where the camera rotates around animated characters? I'm sure there's no way around animating the rotation into the characters. But what about their relationship to each other and the background? Would it be helpful to use camera rotation or would it just be easier to simulate the entire rotation through the drawings like maybe a looped background and just translating the character layers relative to one another?

Have a look at
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=24904&p=138914. Is that close to what you have in mind?

Hi Slowtiger, yes, just like that! Did you use the camera rotation tool? And then set the character layers to always face camera?

I didn't move the camera, instead put the whole scene into one group layer and rotated this. The characters got the same rotation but in the opposite direction (because you can't make anything inside another layer "immune to camera movement"). Careful planning was necessary, and the first thing I worked out was the whole "camera movement" with dummy content. Each character was a group layer as well, so I could change content later.

Or maybe you like this approach:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=24895. It's only 1 image, but a lot of work to do this image right.

Thanks for the ideas! I think rotating the group layers will work for my scene. I will see what happens!
