Help! Frame 1 Smartbone Glitch.

Post by Daljeet »

Hi Guys,

Newbie question here. I have followed tutorials and got basic smartbones working to do a head turn and to make the character blink. It all works fine on frame 0. However, when I go to frame 1, the positions have changed (a key frame is automatically generated when the smartbone dial and action are set up initially), and it all goes glitchy.

The dials dont work as expected, features come off of the face, the blink only works on one eye and distorts the other...

Yet when I go back to frame 0 the smartbone dials work exactly as I set them up.

Any idea what could be going wrong? Many thanks in advance for your help!

Perhaps you have more than one bone keyframed in your smart bone actions.

Thanks for your reply Synthsin75,

I'm going to start from scratch as my current attempt refuses to play ball. To be on the safe side is it wise to create new bone layers for each area (for example the eyes), the head etc? Or does that overly complicate things?

There's no reason to create more layers than necessary, but you may find it easier to keep certain keyframes isolated on their own layer timeline. I would start with fewer layers and only separate things onto more layers as the need arises.

And you can always post a link to the file if you need help sorting out what you currently have.
