Editing multiple keyframes

I'm trying to follow the manual:
"if you want to move an object to a different part of the screen but want to keep the animation of that object the same, you can select all the keyframes and translate them all at the same time. Select all the keyframes for that object and use the mouse to move the object to the new location. Then release the mouse button to complete the movement."
I am in that very scenario and have a tree growing up than, a few seconds later shrinking back.
I want that same animation but on a different part of the screen. What am I missing? Should I only select the translation keyframes? Should I be on frame 0?
Cause when I select all keyframes and move my shape to the new location, it just creates a new keyframe there and sends back my shape to the former position in before and after. It doesn't update the other translation keyframes as I hoped it would.
