Hello, i like to work with the combiation of the effect Gradient (radial) and the blending mode Multiply. It leads to a really nice mood. Only one thing i really dont like: One see the transition from bright to dark:

See! There are dozens of little circles. They are there beforeand after rendering. And they become more obvious when i reduce the size of the film/ choose a lower quality. They look like texture that the artist didnt want to aim.

Does anyone know how to achieve a better/ a smoother tranistion?

I tried to in increase the blur rate of the blending layer but i didnt help.

Thank U for IDEAS

This kind of artifact is called "banding" and exists since the very first pixel image.

See viewtopic.php?f=5&t=23450 for the technical details.

Thank U for the answer. I red the link, the discussion bout Limited Codecs in Mac OS. Is it right: There s no really formula againts this problem. Photoshop could help. It would reduce the effect but wouldn t remove it. But your advice: avoid gradient effects?

Avoid small gradients (not much colour value change) over a long distance when they don't move much.

Other than that: use textures to mask gradient banding. Or re-evaluate your style. That's why I paint my BGs now.

hello, maybe to paint the gradients seems to be the best solution. Nice idea. Thank You
