AS11 32 bit not starting

Hi,
Under Win 8.1 64bit current release I cannot start the 32 bit version of Anime Studio 11, not as user and not as administrator. AS throws error 0x000007b and immediately crashes when the 32 bit version is started.
Anime Studio is not installed on C: but on E: if that helps.
Compatibility mode did not help.
32 bit version was installed into the same directory as 64 bit-- could this be part of the problem?
I do not have this problem with previous AS version.
I need the access to 32 bit because of Quicktime export not being available in the 64 bit version.
